Spiders are invading your cookies ….and it’s awesome!

 Chocolatey, chewy, and full of Halloween mischief.
 Dare to snack?

Serves: 12

Ingredients:

Cookies:

  • 125g unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 cup brown sugar (packed)
  • 1/4 cup white sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 egg yolk (extra)
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 3/4 cups plain flour
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • Pinch of salt
  • 1 cup dark or milk chocolate chips

Spider Decoration:

  • Maltesers (for spider bodies)
  • Reece's peanut butter cups (for spider bodies)
  • 80g milk chocolate (melted, for legs)
  • Icing eyes 

Method:

  1. Combine flour, baking soda, and salt. Whisk until just combined.
  2. Whisk melted butter, brown sugar, and white sugar until smooth. Add egg yolk and vanilla, whisk until creamy.
  3. Pour the flour mix into the wet mix until stir with a wooden spoon until a dough has formed (approx 2-3 mins.
  4. Fold in the chocolate chips gently
  5. Roll dough into 12 balls and place on a lined baking tray, leaving room to spread (may need 2 separate trays) 
  6. Bake at 180°C (350°F) for 13 mins until edges are golden
  7. While cookies are warm, gently press the back of a teaspoon into half the cookies for the Malteser centres. Let cookies cool completely for 30 minutes on the tray
  8. Place the chocolate on the backs of the cookies where the Maltesers and peanut butter cups will sit
  9. Pipe 8 legs per spider with melted dark chocolate and dot on eyes using the chocolate 
  10. Eat immediately or store for up to 4 days!
