Hard to believe but it has been almost a year since we've been the new and improved Marrickville Metro, after Coles and over 35 new stores and restaurants joined us in June last year, adding to our already great offer! We are marking the occasion with a retro-themed party to celebrate!

With free events and activations for all ages to enjoy, Smidmore St and the new side of the centre will come alive with market stalls, live bands, activities for the kids, food tastings, fun entertainment and more!

A collection of colour, fun and excitement as we go all-retro for the party of year.

METRO MARKETS
Marrickville’s Metro Markets be taking place across both festival days. With over 25 stalls offering home & interior products, fashion, jewellery, lifestyle product, art and gourmet produce, it's the perfect chance to discover something unique and immerse yourself in the festival atmosphere. There will be stalls on Smidmore St. and the Ground Level of the new side of the centre.

COMMUNITY ART PIECE
We love art and know you do too. Over the festival weekend, you'll spot two giant double M letters, a blank canvas ready for you to unleash your creativity! Help us create a vibrant and evolving art piece.

RETRO METRO PHOTO WALL
Retro jukeboxes and seating, hot pink neon signs and a recycled artwork backdrop by local re-use centre, Reverse Garbage. The Retro Metro photo wall is your chance to take the best throwback photo ever. (And don’t forget to share your photos and tag Marrickville Metro!)

ARCADE ALLEY
Anyone around in the 80s will have fond memories of Pac-Man eating yellow dots and avoiding four colourful ghosts, all while trying to beat a high score. The Retro Metro Arcade Alley is your chance to finally set that high score you have always dreamed of! There will be two arcade alleys, one on the original side and another on the new side, giving both veterans and newcomers the opportunity to say hello to Pac-Man.

FOOD SAMPLING AND POP-UP BAR
Marrickville Metro is home to a delicious mix of over 10 exciting dining options available for all tastebuds and occasions. Graze on bite-sized food and refresh at a pop-up bar on Smidmore St. Hungry for more? Choose from one of our many restaurants on Smidmore St - Rice Pantry, Nanyang Malaya Café, Izakaya Tori, Slim’s Quality Burger and more!

LIVE MUSIC AND DJS
Over the festival weekend, you will find bands and buskers performing in front of crowds and DJs spinning classic disco hits. A mix of professional and local musicians will be set up across a variety of stages throughout the original and new side, with live music during the day and continuing into the night.

ROVING RETRO PERFORMANCES
As you explore the weekend's activities, you'll spot retro roller skaters weaving their way through the centre, drag queens, mirror people and disco performers, bringing smiles and joy!

KIDS ACTIVITIES + GIVEAWAYS
Bring the kids! There will be bio-glitter tattooing (made from eucalyptus and sourced responsibly from managed plantations!), face painting and even the chance to twist their own biodegradable balloon art!

SPEND + RECEIVE
It's our birthday, but you get the gift! When you spend $50 or more at participating stores, receive a recycled flowerpot designed by another Marrickville local, Defy Design. These pots are made from locally sourced plastic waste and produced right here in Marrickville. The best part? The pots are self-watering and perfect for those who might not have a green thumb. While stocks last, T&Cs apply.
