OUR VISION

THE MARRICKVILLE METRO DEVELOPMENT WILL PROVIDE AN INCLUSIVE SPACE THAT COMPLIMENTS THE UNIQUE INNER WEST CULTURE WITH CAREFULLY CURATED SHOPPING AND DINING OPTIONS.

Over the course of construction, we will be monitoring public feedback and update the section of this website intermittently.

STAY IN THE KNOW

Construction is due to commence on-site at 13-55 Edinburgh Road on 21 January 2019.

Unfortunately, these things do take time, but a job worth doing is worth doing well!  We anticipate the development will occur over a period of 20 months, which means that we will be ready to show you our fresh new look late in 2020. If there are any changes to this, we will list those updates on our website.

Works are scheduled to take place Monday to Saturday from 7.00am – 5.30pm. We meet weekly with our builder ADCO so any concerns from local residents will be considered throughout the course of the construction.

Currently Marrickville Metro is 22,000sqm, the development will add a further 11,000sqm approximately, making the combined total area at the end of construction 33,000sqm. The new section of Marrickville Metro will take over a currently unused industrial space, ensuring that there is no impact to local park or recreational areas.

No. This development has been designed to meet the existing demands created by increased residential and commercial properties in the community.  As such, the new Marrickville Metro development is purely a retail space and is one designed with a community focus;  bringing public art and expression to the forefront.

Although located ‘next door,’ the new development will be totally integrated with the existing Marrickville Metro Shopping Centre by way of a pedestrian bridge. This ‘pedestrian-only’ walkway will also allow customers to access the new development from the existing Marrickville Metro car park.  At street level there will be a safe crossing zone with wheelchair access on Smidmore Street to allow safe passage for customers.

Yes.  We will be introducing a further 455 car spaces at the new location to ensure there’s plenty of parking for everyone. A bridge spanning Smidmore Street will link the new development to the current Marrickville Metro centre, which already offers 1,018 car spaces.  In total we will have 1,473 car spaces including dedicated disabled and family friendly spaces.

Within the approved development our intention is to include a comprehensive parking solution for Marrickville Metro Shopping Centre.  This will include both free and paid parking for our customers and staff.  We want to maximise all of the 1,473 car parking spaces that we have available, to ensure that all customers, retailers, residents and the wider community have a positive experience when they visit us and use our carpark. This is no different to most Shopping Centres within the immediate area.  Over time, we will finalise our plans and communicate these to all stakeholders as soon as possible.
