The Inner West is an incredible place to call home. Our rich melting pot of personalities, traditions, cultures and nationalities is one of a kind and one which we believe should be celebrated. This is why we’ve created the Humans of Marrickville Metro.

How long have you been an Inner West local? 25 years +

What’s your favourite part about living in the inner west? There’s so much to do here. There are all the shops to see and also lots of outdoor spaces to enjoy
 
What’s your fondest or funniest memory of something to do with the Metro? I really like just getting out of the house and spending some time relaxing here. I like grabbing a bite to eat and sitting in the outdoor space.
 
What do you think makes Marrickville so special? There are all the different types of people living here. There’s a big mix and its great.

How long have you been an Inner West local? A long time, maybe 10 years.
 
What’s your favourite part about living in the inner west? It’s a good central location, good schools for kids, close to everything you need and lots of cultural things to do.


What’s your fondest or funniest memory of something to do with the Metro? It’s just really easy to shop here, its close, there’s easy access and parking.
 
What do you think makes Marrickville so special? I’m an artist, so I’d have to say all the murals and artworks around the neighbourhood.

How long have you been an Inner West local? Jane: I have no idea, ages! Jacinta: 23 years.

What’s your favourite part about living in the inner west? Jane: there’s just a really great cultural vibe here. Jacinta: Um.... it’s quirky, creative and unique.
 
What’s your fondest or funniest memory of something to do with the Metro. Jane: “A few years ago Jacinta and I met in Kmart at the Metro on a rainy day in the toy aisle. It was absolutely bucketing down outside and we were trying to entertain our toddlers. We got talking and after about 45 minutes, we swapped numbers and have been friends ever since.”

What do you think makes Marrickville so special? Jane – the culture. Jacinta – the people.

How long have you been an Inner West local? Forever!!

What’s your favourite part about living in the inner west? My family live here

What’s your fondest or funniest memory of something to do with the Metro? You can buy presents for friends here, that’s what I like about the Metro the most.
 
What do you think makes Marrickville so special? There are lots of activities to do. I do soccer, taekwondo, choir and swimming.

How long have you been an Inner West local? I used to live in Newtown for about a decade but moved out recently.
 
What’s your favourite part about living in the inner west? The convenience - it’s so close to everything.
 
What’s your fondest or funniest memory of something to do with the Metro? It would have to be late night shopping at Woollies or Kmart. It’s so nice and quiet and the kids are home at bed.
 
What do you think makes Marrickville so special? It’s very community oriented and that’s what makes it special.

What’s your favourite part about living in the inner west?  The multiculturalism and colourfulness
 
What’s your fondest or funniest memory of something to do with the Metro? I think the convenience of the metro is what makes it great, it’s so accessible and easy to get into the centre.
 
What do you think makes Marrickville so special? It’s unique. It has a wonderful diversity and a laid-back vibe.
